What Horrible News!

I have never felt so stressed in my life! Our family has gotten news that Lydia has eloped with Mr. Wickham and both have left, no where to be found! My mother has been hysterical, and my father, taking it rather calmly, is going in search of them with the help of Mr. Gardiner. Oh, how I am longing for my sister to come home! I have sent out for her two letters, explaining all that I can about what has been going on. I hope they reach her, as my directions have been quite weak. I feel sorry the news had to be told on paper, but I can only hope she comes home as soon as she can.

    Jane,
    It is a good thing you sent these letters to Lizzy. I can't believe Wickham has done this. It really makes me mad too because now Lizzy can't have dinner with me! I told her it was my fault for not exposing Wickham but she blamed herself for the same thing. I guess we are both guilty.
